July is over and I have finally gathered up my summer 2017 favorites that I have been using constantly since I have changed up my makeup for the weather. If you have oily, acne-prone, or otherwise totally uncooperative skin when it comes to heat and humidity these will likely work for you. It’s always good to take into account the changing seasons when it comes to your makeup and skincare.
Cover FX Mattifying Setting Spray: Cover FX, to me, has always been known for having makeup that caters to people with skin issues. Whether those issues are oil, dryness, color-correction, whatever. I saw this setting spray when it first arrived at Sephora and I was drawn to the fact that it didn’t contain alcohol, which I am trying to totally avoid in my skincare. This stuff works like a charm and I have been keeping it in my purse since I bought it. I will normally use this a couple times when I am getting ready, especially when I am layering makeup and I will use a puff to dab it into my skin. If you have severely oily skin, summer and humidity can be a nightmare; however, this can be used throughout the day to control shine and really does the job that it says it will do. I prefer this to Urban Decay’s Deslick setting spray. Sephora.com
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask: Sleeping masks are great for those of us that are lazy. This also happened to be sold out forever and was super hard to find. It was one of those things that I bought probably more due to the buzz that was behind it and very little because I did any research (at all) about what it does or whether or not it would work for me. I love the idea behind this as a sleeping mask because I love using masks but sometimes I don’t have the time. I can put this on before bed and it doesn’t transfer onto my pillow or make a mess either which is great. I ended up loving the ingredient list and that this really works for a ton of skin issues. The mask itself uses watermelon extract to soothe skin, AHA to chemically exfoliate away dead skin cells, and Hylaluronic acid to pull moisture into your skin. I’m totally in love with this because you can see a visible difference after one use. Sephora.com
Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold: This drugstore highlighter may be one of the best that I have ever tried. It is super easy to use and is wearable for most. When I first saw this color I was a little nervous that it wouldn’t suit my skin tone, but it really works well. The good thing about this is that it can be sheered out to work for a more natural look. I am super into the idea that a drugstore brand is doing something trendy, but doing it in a way that would work for anyone regardless of how comfortable they are with different products. Walmart.com
Kat Von D Lock-it Blotting Powder: I have used this a ton this summer for touch-ups. It seems strange because I would assume that adding more powder would become cakey and weird-looking. This powder works really well with any type of foundation and gets rid of shine and oil easily. This also has a matte finish, which I can appreciate in the summer. Sephora.com
