Just because something is from a drugstore does not mean that the quality of the product has to be lacking. Drugstore makeup that works has been my current favorite thing to find when I am looking for things to include in my posts. I have found that there are some things that cost much less than my high-end makeup that I prefer.
I am skeptical about oval brushes and prior to purchasing this set, I only owned one. When Artis brushes became all the rage, it seemed like every makeup brand hopped onto the trend and produced replicas. The first oval brush that I purchased was from Artis (oval 7) and it is still my most favorite brush. They are an investment and it seems silly to spend so much money on brushes that you may not even like as they take some getting used to.
I use my oval 7 brush purely for foundation when I want it to be a little more full-coverage than what I can get with a Beauty Blender. With all of that being said, I came across the Moda Prismatic face perfecting 4 piece brush set at Walmart. It was around $20 with tax making the 4 brush set about a quarter of what one Artis brush would cost (I know).
Duochrome Highlighters have been super trendy recently and I have been obsessed with them since I started seeing people model them on Instagram. They can be subtle or built up to really look bright and shiny in pictures. I found these Duochromatic highlighters by NYX Cosmetics at Target and I was very excited to give them a try. They cost $8 for 6 grams of product. Find Them Here.
Now that February is over, I am going to do a compilation of my favorite products that I have tried this month. I will start off by saying I did not have a lot high-end hits for this time around, and I was disappointed by a lot of the products that I purchased. I have to admit I was more satisfied with NYX, Wet N Wild, and elf this month.
The Urban Decay Naked 1 palette was my first of many makeup splurges. I remember wanting it forever, and it seemed so much more than any of my makeup buys that I have ever made. It was the first thing that launched from a high-end makeup brand that I had to have. After that, there was no going back for me, I was a makeup hoarder from that day forward. I was browsing Target and I couldn’t help but notice that so many brands are coming out with more affordable versions of what I think a lot of people would consider one of the most iconic eye shadow palettes. The two that I found that were the closest ‘dupes’ were Rimmel Magnif’eyes (the color is Keep Calm and Wear Gold) and Covergirl Trunaked Nudes. This is going to be a review and a product comparison between all three. This will include swatches.
My original Beautyblender will always have a special place in my heart that I don’t think that I could ever replace it with another sponge, although I have tried many. There is just something magical about that thing that makes it the best. product. ever. But I could not resist (again) trying something new. After seeing the launch of the pretty little diamond sponge by Real Techniques, I knew I had to have it. But I would not have it right away. It was way harder to find than I would have imagined. I finally got my mitts on one during a chance encounter at Kohls.
