July is over and I have finally gathered up my summer 2017 favorites that I have been using constantly since I have changed up my makeup for the weather. If you have oily, acne-prone, or otherwise totally uncooperative skin when it comes to heat and humidity these will likely work for you. It’s always good to take into account the changing seasons when it comes to your makeup and skincare.
March was a hard month for me to pick out my favorite products because I really liked everything that I purchased and didn’t have many complaints about anything I picked up. March and April is the perfect time to start transistioning into more spring oriented makeup trends, so I took into account the changing weather when I was picking things out. I find myself getting stuck doing my makeup the same way everyday, but I like using light bronzers and bright blushes when it starts to get warmer outside.
I feel like anyone who is even slightly involved in the makeup world on Instagram was shocked to see Kat Von D’s post in regard to Makeup Revolutions ‘dupe’ Shade and Light eye contour palette. Is it fair for Kat to be upset for a company copying her work? I should probably preface this by saying that I am a true-blue Kat Von D Supporter. I love her brand, her products and how forward she seems to come across. I have never met her personally but I feel like she is pretty forthcoming with her creative process and I feel like you have to respect it. I have purchased countless Kat Von D products and I can’t really find a worthy complaint about anything. Everything I have tried I have truly enjoyed. I also like supporting a brand that I feel is honest about the amount of work that goes into their products. Kat has never been shy about how involved she is in her makeup line, and there is just something about her that I can personally respect. I struggled with whether or not I wanted to purchase the ‘dupe’ product, but I know that I fully support Kat’s makeup line, and I have purchased so much of it, that purchasing this in the hopes that seeing these two placed side by side would shed some light on the situation.
Duochrome Highlighters have been super trendy recently and I have been obsessed with them since I started seeing people model them on Instagram. They can be subtle or built up to really look bright and shiny in pictures. I found these Duochromatic highlighters by NYX Cosmetics at Target and I was very excited to give them a try. They cost $8 for 6 grams of product. Find Them Here.
Covering a tattoo is mainly about color-correcting so being aware of which colors cancel out other colors is really helpful. Covering the tattoos that are on my legs does require a lot of product, but it is because they are pretty large and they are dark. I am using them for this tutorial because I have the same tattoo on each shin, so they ended up being perfect for a before and after.
